Queensland Ballet Academy at Kelvin Grove State College

The Queensland Government, through its Building Future Schools Fund, is investing in a state-of-the-art Queensland Ballet Academy at Kelvin Grove State College.

Upon completion in 2020, the new facility will enable students to complete their dance and academic studies on a single college campus, reducing travel time to off-site dance facilities.

The Queensland Ballet Academy at Kelvin Grove State College in Brisbane, will be a one-of-a-kind Queensland state school facility, supporting student development to the highest artistic and technical standards and providing a secondary school pathway for talented young dancers to a professional career in ballet or dance.

Construction of the academy includes the delivery of six large dance studios and a range of support facilities including multi-purpose rooms, staff rooms and a physiotherapy room.

The academy epitomises Kelvin Grove State College’s 30-year strong partnership with Queensland Ballet and will attract elite dance students from across Australia and overseas to train at the exceptional facility under the vibrant, creative direction of Queensland Ballet.

The construction contract has been awarded to Paynters Pty Ltd and construction commenced in early 2019.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
