Pre-Professional Program
Queensland Ballet Academy’s Pre-Professional Program is a full-time final year training program providing students with the preparation and training they require before joining a professional ballet company.
The Academy’s invaluable connection to Queensland Ballet allows our Pre-Professional Program students to learn from the Company’s artistic team and guest creatives through weekly classes, workshops and collaborations.
The students in this performance-based course also have access to the Company’s Performance Health professionals and facilities.

#Program Information
The program is based in Queensland Ballet’s home in West End, and provides students with studio-to-stage professional dance experience. Throughout the year dancers prepare for their artistic careers by performing alongside Queensland Ballet Company Artists, and in standalone Academy productions.
Students work intensively to develop their skills to the highest artistic and technical standards, preparing them for potential employment with Queensland Ballet, or any other Australian or international company. Daily training is provided by Queensland Ballet’s Artistic and Academy staff and the Company’s associate teachers.
All Queensland Ballet Academy programs are overseen by Queensland Ballet Artistic Director, Li Cunxin AO, and students enjoy the privilege and benefit of working within a professional environment.
Queensland Ballet Academy’s program structure has been professionally designed to ensure dancers are career-ready once they graduate.
Successful completion of the Pre-Professional Program ensures students are ready to seek employment with leading ballet and contemporary companies in Australia and overseas. After graduation, the dancers are also welcome to audition for entry into Queensland Ballet’s Jette Parker Young Artist Program. Becoming a Young Artist serves as an apprentice entry into Queensland Ballet Company. Students also have opportunities to gain employment with other Australian and international dance companies.
