Queensland Ballet Academy announces student exchange partnership with Balletschule Theater Basel, Switzerland

Queensland Ballet Academy has today announced an exciting new student exchange partnership with Ballettschule Theater Basel (BTB) in Switzerland, commencing this year.

The collaboration will enable students from each professional dance training organisation, both of which are partners of the prestigious Prix de Lausanne competition, to experience a two-week student exchange program under the guidance of their respective artistic teams.

As the official school of the world-renowned Ballet Theater Basel, BTB is recognized worldwide as one of the leading professional schools in Europe. The school prepares up to 50 dancers a year for the big stages of the ballet world and offers more than 300 children and young people a technical education in ballet and modern dance.

Queensland Ballet Academy is a world-class ballet training organisation, offering a comprehensive industry-aligned, professional career pathway, and producing young dancers whose talents and abilities are in demand throughout Australia and internationally. Its new world-class Academy facility opened its doors to students this January at Kelvin Grove State College in Brisbane’s inner-north, providing students with both elite ballet training and academic studies on one site.

Academy Director Christian Tatchev said the collaboration provided an invaluable training opportunity for the young dancers and heralded the beginning of an exciting new partnership between the two organisations.

“We’re thrilled to announce this new student exchange partnership with BTB and as we continue to evolve and develop our global reach,” he said.

Amanda Bennett, Director of BTB is extremely excited about the new Student Exchange Partnership.

“With Queensland Ballet Academy, this amazing opportunity will provide students with the extra international experience they need when preparing for a professional career,” she said.

In light of the Academy’s new facility opening, Mr Tatchev said Queensland Ballet Academy is continuously searching for opportunities, such as the abovementioned partnership, to add value to its training and to support the development of its talent.
