Soirée - A unique exploration of dance, art, and music.

Audiences will experience a fusion of art, dance, and live music as Queensland Ballet Academy presents Soirée – a dazzling annual performance season in collaboration with Philip Bacon Galleries and in 2023, internationally-acclaimed artist Michael Zavros.

Renowned for his hyper-realistic style, depicting objects of fashion, beauty, and grandeur, Zavros is a leading Australian artist whose work is held in numerous public and private collections, including The National Gallery of Australia and Queensland Art Gallery. Soirée blends his stunning art with original neo-classical and contemporary choreography by Paul Boyd and Natalie Weir, performed by Queensland Ballet Academy’s Pre-Professional Program dancers to live music provided by Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra.

Academy Director Christian Tàtchev said Soirée presents a unique opportunity to nurture the futures of Australia’s dancers.

“Soiree presents such a unique experience to all our dancers. We are grateful to philanthropist Philip Bacon AO for enabling this project, and to Michael Zavros for coming on board with us again in 2023.

“Presented at the Talbot Theatre, Thomas Dixon Centre, this event promises an extraordinary showcase of Australian art, Australian choreographers, and Australia’s emerging dance talent in what has become a highlight of the Brisbane arts scene.
