Head of Lower School

Veronika Sheremetieva (known as Miss Nika) began her dance training at Baku Choreography School. She spent eight years at the Moscow Dance Academy, where she was taught by Bolshoi Academy professor Natalia Zolotova and completed a Diploma of Choreographic Arts.

After graduation, Nika danced with award-winning classical and musical theatre companies in Germany, Italy, Turkey, Israel, England, Russia and China, shaping her versatility with leading choreographers and performing in some of the world’s most renowned theatres.

Nika continued her studies at university in Moscow while dancing professionally, completing a teaching degree in Classical Ballet. Her education immersed her in centuries of Russian ballet teaching methodology, including the renowned approach of the Vaganova system.

Nika relocated to Australia in 2006 teaching classical and character dance with various schools and studios in South-East Queensland before joining Queensland Ballet Academy in 2017.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
