#A sprinkling of Christmas magic for the whole family

Whisk the entire family away this festive season to a magical Christmas Eve party where snowflakes flutter, fireplaces crackle, and enchanted toys come alive to frolic and play in The Nutcracker.

Adapted by renowned choreographer Ben Stevenson OBE from the original 19th century Russian classic and featuring the original Tchaikovsky score by Queensland Symphony Orchestra, this cherished Queensland Ballet holiday tradition returns to Brisbane for its tenth spell-binding season.

Itā€™s Christmas Eve and under tinsel and twinkling fairylights, young Clara and Fritz are gifted new toys. But a visit from the mysterious Dr Drosselmeyer puts plans in a spin when he gives Clara a special wooden Nutcracker doll.

When the clock strikes twelve, nothing is as it seems! In a daring dreamscape, Clara and the Nutcracker Prince journey across a Lemonade Sea to the Kingdom of Sweets, for a midnight rendezvous of delectable delights and enchanting entertainment.

This hugely popular ballet has been captivating audiences ā€“ young and old ā€“ across the globe for more than 120 years. Queensland Balletā€™s production was choreographed by Ben Stevenson OBE in 1976 and premiĆØred for Brisbane audiences in 2013.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders ā€” past, present and emerging ā€” and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
