Teacher Professional Development Session

Thomas Dixon Centre, 406 Montague Rd, West End QLD 4101, Australia

Translating onstage to classroom learning

#Translating onstage to classroom learning

Sessions are designed to inspire, support and meaningfully contribute to your teaching practice whether you are an educator in a school, studio or community setting.

This session will explore foundation ballet steps (adapted repertoire from Queensland Ballet’s 2022 Moonlight Ballet production featuring Christopher Bruce’s Rooster and Jack Lister’s B-Sides), Queensland Ballet LearningHUB curriculum-based resources, and will also provide a platform for sharing and learning from like-minded peers. No previous dance experience necessary!

The day will also involve a Masterclass delivered by a Queensland Ballet Teaching Artist with a wealth of knowledge and experience to share whilst leading you through a traditional ballet class. Our Masterclasses are designed to be fun, challenging and inspirational, providing teachers with an insight into a professional ballet company. Integrated into this Masterclass will be education links to explore how the learnings from this session translate into a classroom context.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
