Introducing Kohei

Kohei was born in Hyogo, Japan, and to his parents’ surprise, decided he wanted to take up ballet lessons at the age of ten. He started training in ballet at 11 at the Sadamatu Hamada Ballet Studio. After competing in the Youth America Grand Prix, Kohei won a full scholarship to attend the Australian Ballet School. He graduated in 2010, and danced with the Royal New Zealand Ballet for 8 years, joining Queensland Ballet as a Soloist in 2018. He is now a Senior Soloist within the company.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
