Heidi Craig

Introducing Heidi

Heidi grew up in Wellington, New Zealand and began dancing at three-years-old. She trained with Wellington Dance and Performing Arts Academy alongside the New Zealand School of Dance in their Scholars and Associates’ programs before, at age 15, moving to Australia to attend the Queensland Ballet Academy Senior and Pre-Professional Programs.

Her favourite roles to have performed so far are The Sleeping Beauty fairies because each variation has such a different dynamic and personality.

Repertoire highlights

  • Mazurka solo in 'Les Sylphides'
  • Wit Fairy from 'The Sleeping Beauty'
  • Violente fairy from 'The Sleeping Beauty'
  • Black tutu girl in 'Etudes'

What inspires you to dance?

My inspiration comes from wanting to become a little bit better every day and to create something amazing for audiences. Seeing such beautiful senior dancers around me really helps to inspire and drive the improvement and it is such a privilege to have amazing role models so nearby!

Did you know…

Heidi choreographed a short piece which was performed as part of Street Serenades during Brisbane Festival.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
